LinkedIn Profile Optimization

As Collins Denny, a fellow MyLinkedIn Power Forum member, pointed out it is very important to optimize your profile to become more visible to those on linkedin looking to connect with opportunities.

The following is a list of some of the things you can do to make your profile stand out:

  • Write endorsements - When we write endorsements for people they will remember you. Some will write one for you too, others will recommend you to others when an opportunity arises. This is part of the pay it forward approach.

  • Ask connections to write endorsements - Some people would love to endorse you but maybe don't know how to do it. Being proactive is a good thing. Endorsements is one way to sort the results of searches.

  • Build a list of relevant key words into profile - This helps you in two ways:

Firstly, when someone searches for you and types in keywords in the top it finds you.
Secondly, if you place the proper keywords in your profile then you will end up in the proper category under Find Services. Click HERE to find out more about making your profile appear in services
  • Get more connections - The more connections you have the more people can see you on linkedin to find you. Also, one of the search options is sort by number of connections

  • Say something compelling - I changed my linkedin description to "Everybody Knows A Chris Williams" and I got a lot more people inviting me to join them so they could know one.
  • Get Others To Review Your Profile - A good way to do this is to join The MyLinkedIn Profile Group. They have lots of tips and tricks and can critique your profile to help you make it better.
  • Insert Tip Here - Now its up to you. Do you have any tips for me to add?
If so, email them to me at chrisw_88@hotmail.com and I will add them to this posting

Let's help each other create solid profiles so we can help each other succeed in networking.

Welcome To The Social Networking Portal Blog.

This blog alongside the Social Networking Portal website, will connect you with all the resources you need to create your own personal network.

As a first step in improving your network, I would highly recommend joining
My LinkedIn Power Forum. Its founder is Vincent Wright, the nicest guy you will ever know. His group contains some of the cream for the crop of networkers who are sharing their knowledge of networking and building up fellow members.

Another resource I would like to highlight is The Networking Community. I highly recommend subscribing to the Dan Williams' newsletter. He is a powerful networker and I have learned a lot from this resource.

If you have any questions or would like some guidance on where to begin, you can join our mentoring program. This program will look at your specific networking needs and assist you to create the network that would be most effective for you.
